We are the International Association of Chiefs of Police. Founded more than 120 years ago, we not only represent Police Chiefs and law enforcement across the United States but in more than 115 countries around the world.
Our members share a common goal. To serve our communities by working with our communities.
As one of the leading law enforcement organizations in the world, we understand that we can never stop innovating. Our many initiatives include the Institute for Community-Police Relations, the Law Enforcement Cyber Center, and Protect and Serve, an initiative to help law enforcement build sustainable community relationships.
Identity theft is now such a massive and complex crime, most experts agree that our best option for combatting it is to work together with our local communities – law enforcement, the financial industry, local businesses, and citizens.
That’s why we’re proud and excited to be a part of Operation Stop IT!, the first national partnership between law enforcement and local communities to help stop identity theft.
Our approach to combating identity theft is two-pronged:
- Prevention through education, so that law enforcement, businesses, and citizens understand the steps they need to take to avoid falling victim.
- Victim support, so that victims of identity theft can confidently turn to their local law enforcement for answers and support.
