We’re getting ready to launch the very first National Support Network for Victims of Identity Theft where you'll be able to join the discussion, share your experiences, meet other victims, and get expert help from our moderators and counselors.
Our great partners at the non-profit Identity Theft Resource Center have a hotline to live and trained counselors who can help – CALL 888.400.5530
Help others learn from your experiences - or maybe just vent a little. We’d like to hear and maybe even post or share your story to help others.
We think it’s important that you understand some of the great experts volunteering their time to help you. And we think its important to give the a shout out too.
Our hope is that as many members as possible will consider supporting the initiative, even in small ways:
If you'd like to get involved, please use the link below to add yourself to our list of interested volunteers and we'll get right back to you.
Operation Stop IT – Stop Identity Theft – is the first major push-back against identity theft in law enforcement history, led by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the Identity Theft Council, and the Identity Theft Resource Center, and supported by the ACFE, AARP, the Credit Union National Association, the American Bankers Association, Transunion, Civic and many others.
Your level of vigilance will not only determine your vulnerability to all kinds of crimes, but also the amount of harm you’ll suffer if you fall victim. And especially when it comes to identity theft.
Vigilance is built on the foundations of basic education and constant reminders, and making that important commitment that you will do whatever you can to protect your corner of cyberspace. The key to good security is knowing what to do to avoid falling victim, and knowing what to do when you do fall victim so you can act quickly and limit the damage.
In partnership with law enforcement and other groups around the country, we want to share that knowledge with you. Call it an automated update to that great technology I talked about. As long as that technology remains current, updated, and constantly patched, it will continue to serve as your best defense by far.
I’m immensely proud of the way law enforcement has stepped into this tough fight, and championing the message that a crime that impacts every community is best defended by communities working together.
Stayed tuned as we announce a series of important initiatives, as well as all the great partners who are standing up and stepping up to show their support in fighting one of the most complex crimes in history.
